Rep. Dingell introduces bill to include hearing aids in Medicare

U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) recently introduced the Medicare Hearing Aid Coverage Act of 2017, which would expand Medicare to cover hearing aids for beneficiaries. Hearing loss is the third most prevalent chronic condition in the country, but most seniors who need hearing aids do not get them because they cannot afford them, said Dingell, vice chair of the House Democratic Caucus Seniors Task Force… The bill also directs the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a study on insurance programs that provide services to help with hearing loss. The bill is cosponsored by Reps. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Derek Kilmer (D-WA), Doris Matsui (D-CA), Betty McCollum (MN-04), Kathleen Rice (D-NY), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Louise Slaughter (D-NY).
