Kilmer Statement on Janus v. AFSCME Decision
WASHINGTON, DC—Following the Supreme Court’s 5-to-4 ruling in favor of Mark Janus in his suit against AFSCME, Representative Derek Kilmer (D-WA) gave the following statement:
“Public unions fight for better pay, fair working hours and safe workplaces. That benefits every worker,” Kilmer said. “The federal government is the largest employer in our region, and the Court’s decision today weakens those workers’ rights to organize for better wages and better benefits. I will keep working in Congress to protect those rights and push back against the special interests who have launched ideologically-driven, persistent and well-funded legal attacks against working people and their right to organize.”
Kilmer recently wrote an op-ed for The Stand in support of public workers.
