Kilmer Delivers Valentines to Area Veterans
On Valentine’s Day, as part of his “Valentines for Veterans” initiative, U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer (WA-06) hand-delivered valentines to veterans from area students at the Washington Home for Veterans in Port Orchard.
“We can never thank our veterans enough,” said Kilmer. “They committed themselves to keep our country safe, and they continue to serve our community every day. This Valentine’s Day, I’m grateful to be able to show a small token of our community’s appreciation by delivering valentines made by students from across our region. Thanks to our veterans – and thanks to local kids for showing some love to the brave men and women who served our country.”
Students from schools across the region participated in Rep. Kilmer’s “Valentine’s for Veterans” program as an opportunity to send greetings and show appreciation to area veterans, including: Brownsville Elementary, Evergreen Elementary, Peninsula High School, Hawkins Middle School, Brinnon School District, Quilcene School District, Vinland Elementary, West Sound Tech, Armin Jahr Elementary, Annie Wright Lower School, Gig Harbor High School, and Goodman Middle School.
Valentine cards were also delivered to VFW Post 2669.
