Representative Kilmer Plans Series of stops on Peninsula
U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer is visiting the North Olympic Peninsula on Monday for a series of get-togethers with constituents during a two-week congressional recess.
Kilmer, a Port Angeles native now living in Gig Harbor whose 6th Congressional District includes Clallam and Jefferson counties, is a first-term Democrat up for re-election in November.
He has yet to announce whether he is running for re-election.
Here's his schedule:
? 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.: Jefferson Healthcare hospital, Port Townsend, 834 Sheridan St., Port Townsend, as part of his “Kilmer at Your Company” tour.
He will meet with workers at the hospital, said Jason Phelps, Kilmer's public information officer.
? Noon to 1 p.m.: Featured speaker, Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.
? 1:30 p.m.: Nippon Paper Industries USA, 1902 Marine Drive, as part of his “Kilmer at Your Company” tour.
? 3 p.m.: North Olympic Peninsula Clinic, a medical facility for veterans at 1114 Georgiana St.
? 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Round-table discussion with tribal veterans at Clallam County Veterans Center, 261 S. Francis St., Port Angeles, to discuss to discuss tribal veterans' needs and his proposed Housing Native Heroes Act.
? 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Round-table discussion with Peninsula Young Professionals Network, downstairs banquet room at Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road, Sequim.
Sequim Planning Director Chris Hugo also will present information on the Sequim120 Comprehensive Plan update.
