Facebook offering tips to veterans promoting businesses online at Tacoma fair
The world’s largest social network, Facebook, is coming Tuesday to Tacoma to offer help to veterans and their families who own small businesses on how to create new traffic for their enterprises using the Facebook. The free fair begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Landmark Catering and Convention Center’s Plaza Grand Ballroom. The Landmark is located at 47 St. Helens Ave.
Facebook’s Veteran and Military Family Small Business Boost seminar is co-sponsored by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce.
“The skills our service members pick up in the military are often the very same skills that make for a successful entrepreneur or small business owner,” said U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer, who will be a special guest at the event. “As more service members transition to the civilian workforce it’s important they get the support they need to be successful. This forum will give our local veterans a chance to learn how to sharpen their ideas and reach an even broader audience online to help their business grow, all while networking with other veteran entrepreneurs.”
The seminar will offer real world advice from a panel of local business owners about how they used social networks to boost their businesses.
