Biden And His Cabinet Embark on Cross-Country Tour to Sell ‘Bidenomics’

President Joe Biden and members of his Cabinet are hitting the road this week as part of a revamped attempt to pitch Americans on the administration's economic vision.

The cross-country tour comes after Biden delivered a speech in Chicago outlining his economic accomplishments in office and his future plans, which the White House has called "Bidenomics." The president and his aides have framed the platform as an alternative to the "trickle-down" economics Republicans have offered.

“You aren’t done hearing about Bidenomics," White House communications director Ben LaBolt said. "Following his major address in Chicago, the President, Vice President, Cabinet members, and senior Administration officials will continue to make a full-court press on Bidenomics this week—highlighting how the President’s economic plan is investing in America and increasing competition to lower costs for hardworking families.

Starting Wednesday, Biden and top officials in his administration are set to travel to key president battleground states such as Michigan and Arizona, red states such as South Carolina and Ohio, and blue states like California and Vermont.

The White House faces an uphill climb in selling their message to voters, as polls have consistently found that the public disapproves of how Biden has handled economic issues. And while the unemployment rate is low, inflation has remained stubbornly high and the long-term economic forecast remains uncertain.

Here is where Biden and his officials will be traveling this week:

Wednesday, July 5th

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regen, will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan where he will discuss infrastructure plans to replace lead pipes. Regen will be accompanied by Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI) and Mayor of Grand Rapids Rosalynn Bliss.

Thursday, July 6th

Biden will head to South Carolina where he plans to announce a clean energy manufacturing investment, which the White House said was made possible by the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will travel to the Gila Indian River Community in Arizona where they plan to emphasize the administration's efforts in water resilience for Tribal Nations.

Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland is scheduled to travel to Albany, New York, where she will focus on clean energy and strengthening offshore wind efforts. Haaland will be joined by Rep. Paul Tonk (D-N.Y.).

Xavier Becerra, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, is headed to Akron and Cleveland, Ohio, to host events focused on lowering of health care costs. Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-OH) and Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH) are also scheduled to be present.
