Booker sets Twitter to stun in Star Trek vs. Star Wars battle
So who is cooler Han Solo or James T. Kirk?
As Star Trek celebrates its 50th anniversary, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker engaged in a skirmish with a fellow Democratic lawmaker.
Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-Wash.) launched the first volley, championing the captain of the Millennium Falcon of Star Wars fame.
Booker raised shields, deflecting the laser cannon blast and returned with phaser fire, defending the captain of the USS Enterprise.
Booker, 47, is a long-time Star Trek fan, though he was not alive when the legendary series first aired on NBC.
He helped raise money for New Jersey radio station WFMU by engaging in a Star Trek trivia contest, tripped up when he did not know the name of the son of Captain Benjamin Sisko, commander of space station Deep Space Nine. For the record, his name was Jake.
The first black elected to the U.S. Senate from New Jersey, Booker was mentioned as a potential running mate for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. He rocked the Democratic National Convention with a speech on the first night of the gathering.
