TRI-CITIES, Wash. — Congressman Dan Newhouse (R-WA) invited Congressman Derek Kilmer (D-WA) from the 6th district to tour different spots around the Tri-Cities.
The pair started the day off at the Hanford site where they saw the vitrification plant. Representative Newhouse says it's exciting to see the process of the plant turning from a construction site to a production site.
"I've made it a point to invite as many people from congress to come and see what we do here and the challenges we face. Hanford is a really great place to take people so they can really appreciate what's going on there and what needs to be done,” Rep. Newhouse said.
Newhouse says it's important to make sure congress knows what's going on at Hanford so they get the appropriate amount of funding to get the work they need completed.
After the Hanford visit the congressman stopped at the Tri-City Business and Visitor Center to talk about respect and civility.
“Though we come from different perspectives and different parties we can still make progress in a civil way and make progress at least on the issues on which we agree,” Rep. Kilmer said.
Newhouse is visiting Rep. Kilmer’s district this week to spread the message of civility and respect.
