Kilmer Bill Would End Fire Borrowing

A new bill co-sponsored by Congressman Derek Kilmer aims to end the practice by the forest service of fire borrowing to pay for wildfires.

Kilmer says Forest Fires should be paid for under FEMA like other natural disasters.   Kilmer says the problem is especially acute in Washington State which had the largest forest fires in its history last summer – including the Paradise Fire in ONP.
