Kilmer telephone town hall set Thursday

Congressman Derek Kilmer plans a telephone town hall at 6 p.m. Thursday to hear to hear from constituents about the issues that matter to them.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask Kilmer a question or leave a message with their comments. Kilmer, a Democrat living in Gig Harbor, represents the 6th Congressional District, which includes the North Olympic Peninsula.

“As we start the new year, there is a lot of work that Congress needs to get done,” Kilmer said.

“It is vital to me to remain accessible and accountable, and it always helps to hear directly from folks in our region about what’s most important to them.”

Residents of the 6th District who would like to join can send an email to kilmer.teletownhall@mail.house.gov. by noon Wednesday.

Residents who sign up before the deadline will receive a phone call on Thursday night a few minutes before the start of the call. They’ll have the option to stay on the line to participate, or simply leave a message with their views.

This is the first telephone town hall of the new year.

Last year, Kilmer held 13 town halls, including in Tacoma, Bremerton, Aberdeen, and on a ferry route from Bainbridge Island to Seattle.

He also hosted four town halls this year at local colleges and universities in the region and a number of employee town halls at local businesses.

In addition, Kilmer consistently holds telephone town halls, open office hours, and meets with constituents on ferries, public buses, and at their places of employment.
