KILMER WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU ABOUT HEALTH CARE

Representative Derek Kilmer (D-WA) announced a new way for constituents to share stories about how the Affordable Care Act has impacted them. Across the country last weekend, Representatives called attention to the impact that the Affordable Care Act has had on patients, families, doctors, and hospital providers. Kilmer is urging constituents to visit his website at http://www.kilmer.house.gov/contact/your-aca-story to share questions and concerns they have about an effort to eliminate the Affordable Care Act. He plans to highlight these stories in Washington, D.C. during the debate in Congress on any repeal legislation.
“This is about people,” said Kilmer. “People who have been able to get the treatments they need, or stay on their parents’ insurance, or families wrestling with the impact of the opioid crisis. That’s why I’m asking the folks I represent to share their stories with me about how it’s helped them. Please write in or tell me in person during my town halls. We can and should look for constructive ways to reduce health care costs for seniors and families, invest in prevention, and increase choices for consumers. But we cannot move backward.”
In January, Kilmer sat down with healthcare professionals, local hospital officials and patients, along with business and labor leaders where he heard how the Act has reduced uninsured rates and created economic benefits for the region. According to a recent study, the proposal to repeal the Affordable Care Act would cost Washington state more than 30,000 jobs overall.
