Kilmer Applauds Kitsap Regional Library on National Award Nomination
BREMERTON, Wash. – Today, Representative Derek Kilmer (D-WA) applauded Kitsap Regional Library on its selection as one of 30 finalists for the 2016 National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The National Medal is awarded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and recognizes the outstanding contributions libraries and museums make to their communities through education, workforce development, and more.
In a letter to Dr. Kathryn K. Matthew, director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Kilmer supported Kitsap Regional Library’s nomination for the award.
Kitsap Regional Library serves over 250,000 residents in Kitsap County and was nominated alongside James E. Brooks Library at Central Washington University in Ellensburg. The winners will be honored at a ceremony held in Washington D.C.
“This recognition reflects the dedication and talent of the staff at Kitsap Regional Library and I’m proud to support its role in our community,” said Kilmer. “The library’s nomination is well deserved as the programs they offer go far to bolster learning opportunities – especially for young people looking to better prepare to meet their employment or higher education goals.”
