Kilmer to Lead a Seniors Forum in Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES, WA - Representative Derek Kilmer (WA-06) will lead a forum at the Port Angeles Senior Center on Friday to listen firsthand to attendees as they discuss issues impacting the region’s seniors. The forum will begin at 1 p.m. and will cover, among other issues, the future of Social Security and Medicare programs for Washington state retirees.
Friday’s forum is open to the public and includes a speaking program and a senior resource fair. Rep. Kilmer and others will be speaking and answering questions from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The senior resource fair, with information available to all in attendance, will follow from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“We must maintain our commitment to the nation’s seniors,” said Kilmer. “My grandmother recently turned 104 years old, and I want to be sure that she and every other senior citizen has the ability to live with dignity. I hope you’ll join me to discuss the importance of seniors continuing to receive the benefits they’ve earned and other issues facing those with retirement just around the corner.”
Joining Rep. Kilmer at the forum will be an employee from the Washington State Attorney General’s office to detail how to avoid scams targeted at senior citizens, a member of the Olympic Area Agency on Aging to highlight the services they provide, and an employee from the Social Security Administration to answer questions about the program.
Rep. Kilmer is committed to assisting the region’s senior citizens. Visitors to Rep. Kilmer’s website will find a Senior Citizens’ Resources page with information about Social Security, Medicare, and other programs.
