Rep. Kilmer Signs on as Original Co-Sponsor of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Derek Kilmer (WA-06) released the following statement in response to his support of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act.
“Yesterday, Congress took an important, tangible step toward addressing climate change by introducing the Climate Action Now Act,” said Rep. Kilmer. “The communities I represent are already experiencing the impacts of climate change and they are counting on the federal government to take action to reverse the dangerous path we’re on. The Climate Action Now Act will reaffirm America’s commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement and direct the Administration to develop, and make public, a comprehensive plan to meet the significant emission reductions that we as nation, and nearly every other nation, committed to back in 2015. We know that making progress on this issue is important to the planet – but can also be an amazing opportunity for new jobs in clean energy industries. The American people are not just demanding action – but leadership – to counter the impacts of climate change. This legislation is an important first step toward meeting our long-term carbon emission goals, and I am proud to be a co-sponsor.”
