Rep. Kilmer Votes to Support the Climate Action Now Act
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Derek Kilmer (WA-06) joined 230 bipartisan colleagues voting in support of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, and released the following statement:
“There’s no denying it: climate change is real, and it’s already posing a real threat to communities across the Pacific Northwest, our nation, and our world. The American people are not just demanding action – but leadership – to counter the impacts of climate change. Today, Congress took an important step and passed the Climate Action Now Act, a bill that would enable America to join every other nation on the planet in committing to the Paris Climate Agreement. Additionally, it directs the Administration to develop a comprehensive plan to meet the emission reductions that we committed to back in 2015. Addressing climate change is not just a necessity for our planet but is also an opportunity to create new green-collar jobs and sustainable economic growth. The time for action is now, and I am a proud vote in favor of this legislation.”
