Re-elect Derek Kilmer for the 6th Congressional District

EVERY member of Congress should have the commitment to serving constituents and a record of working across the aisle for pragmatic solutions as U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer, who represents Washington’s 6th Congressional District.

The Gig Harbor Democrat has earned re-election to a third term representing the Olympic Peninsula, parts of Tacoma and the Kitsap Peninsula. He is a pragmatic public servant committed to moving beyond the partisan tribalism that has stopped so much of Congress in its tracks. He has passed a couple of bills — but also has been effective in influencing legislation, which contributed to him being judged the fifth most effective congressional Democrat by the Legislative Effectiveness Project in his first term.

His priorities align well with his district, including developing jobs and helping the timber industry move beyond the old fights between conservationists and timber interests and keeping the district’s military installations vital.

He is challenged by two fellow Democrats, two Republicans and a fifth candidate who states no party preference. None of them touch Kilmer’s resume of public service or commitment to pragmatic effectiveness.

This is an easy one. Send Kilmer back for a third term.
